Biography

James’ communications experience in The United Methodist Church includes having been the Director of Communications of the California-Pacific Conference and the Senior Communications Specialist of the General Board of Church and Society (GBCS) - roles in which his skills in graphic design, web design, content development, media production, and communications strategy were well-applied in a profession driven by rapid technological advancements. He has also served as a member of the Board, and ultimately President, of Nexus - the national association for the next generation of Korean Americans in the United Methodist Church.

James earned a Master of Divinity from Claremont School of Theology - as did his late father. He lives in the Los Angeles area with his spouse and children.

What languages do you speak? 

English and ”Konglish” (a composite of English and broken Korean often spoken by children of Korean immigrants)

What is the best advice you ever got?

“You must never become a Calvinist.”

What’s the best flavor combination you can think of?

Well, it depends on what food we are talking about. Coffee is best with oat milk - it’s a fact.
